If you’ve never tried a set of Trijicon sights you’re missing out. Trijicon makes some of the best sights in the firearm industry. Known for making high quality products, they make sights for almost every modern handgun.  There’s no comparison between the Trijicon sights and cheaper options. They are expensive, but I wouldn’t trade out my Trijicons for anything.

When comparing sights in the store it can be difficult to tell the difference between cheap and expensive sights. Where you really notice the difference is back at home. Out of the fluorescent lighting at the department store. Trijicon dominates the Night sight industry, because they make the brightest sights on the market.  It doesn’t matter what the weather’s like you’ll have a bright sight picture.  The Glow in The Dark front sight will quickly draw your eye.  It has photo luminescent paint that reflects light during the day.

I love how many different options there are on the market.  With multiple color choices and styles, I was able to choose the sights that work best for me.  You’re particular color will be a matter of personal preference, but I lean towards the orange model. It gives me a better sight picture during the cold Ohio winters. If you have a sight pusher the installation will be easy.  In about fifteen minutes you’ll have a new pair of sights installed. They won’t snag on your holster or clothing during the draw.   If you are looking for the absolute best look no farther than Trijicon

You can still get a pair of factory night sights even if you didn’t buy them with your gun.  Throughout the years Glock has significantly improved their factory night sights.  The new OEM sights are easy to see and last a long time.

It may seem obvious to some, but why wouldn’t you go to the manufacturer to find great sights.  Glock had these sights manufactured specifically for this gone so they offer a excellent fit.  The tritium offers a high contrast sight picture that’s easy to see.  They’re illuminated during the night and bright white during the day.  The snag free design of the factory Glock sights makes these perfect for an easy draw. Personally at this price I would go with the upgraded Trijicon’s but you can’t go wrong with the Glock OEM night sights.

4. Trijicon RMR 6.5 MOA Red Dot Sight

  • Easy to Use

  • Long Battery Life
  • Constantly Running
  • Large Sight Picture

Though it’s personally not my style lots of people like to pair their Glock with a micro red dot. Trijicon set the standard of quality that all other pistol red dots try to achieve. The Trijicon RMR is easily the most durable reflex sight on the market.  With a small footprint and durable body the RMR pairs up perfectly with the Glock 36.

Trijicon’s RMR has long been the king of reflex pistol sights.  The only downside about the Trijicon RMR is the price. RMR series red dots perform flawlessly on glocks.  If you can get past the slight increase in size it will significantly speed up your shooting.  Almost instantly you’ll be shooting better than you ever have before.  Available in a wide range of MOA’s ranging all the way up to 7.5 MOA. For a short range concealed carry gun I like to choose the 6.5 MOA red dot. It will be much easier to pick up the reticle and find your target.  The adjustable brightness can be switched between automatic and manual modes.  With multiple brightness settings you’ll be able to see clearly day or night.  Trijicon seriously over built this little sight. It was designed for the military using a nearly indestructible waterproof housing.  What really sold me on the RMR was the battery life.  With a battery life that lasts almost 4 years the RMR is an excellent alternative to traditional sights.

5. Vortex Venom Red Dot

Notable Features:

  • Value Priced
  • Sturdy Design
  • Clear Sight Picture
  • Waterproof

The Vortex Venom Red dot is a much more affordable alternative to the RMR. At close to half the price of the RMR it’s well worth a look.

Side by side it would be difficult to distinguish the Vortex Venom from the Trijicon RMR. They offer a very similar sight picture and are targeting the same market. The only difference between these two sights is their relative durability. The Trijicon RMR was designed to be literally bomb proof. Designed for the military market the Trijicon RMR can take a lot of abuse. I’ve seen salesman drive in nails without breaking the RMR. The Vortex Venom on the other hand was designed for civilian use. It will stand up to the occasional drop and just about anything that you will encounter throughout the day.  With 10 brightness levels and an automatic mode you’ll be able to see all day long. If you don’t need the automatic mode the Vortex Viper is basically the same sight with only manual settings. The 3MOA reticle is just about perfect.  It’s big enough to quickly see while allowing you to stay accurate at a distance. For the price the Vortex Venom is an excellent alternative to traditional sights.

Why Get Night Sights?

Maybe your sights are getting worn out, or you’ve been using cheap aftermarket sights.  You should definitely upgrade to a brand new set of night sights.  Night sights will brighten up your sight picture both at night and during the day.  They get their name by allowing the user to engage targets in low light conditions.  Made out of tritium night sights are easy to see during the day and glow green in the dark.  With a minute or two of daylight you’ll get hours of bright green light.

Pistol sight selection is definitely a subjective topic, but experts across the board recommend tritium night sights.  You never know when you’re going to need your concealed carry weapon.  Since your much more likely to face intruders at night you need to be able to clearly see your sight picture.  At night it’s very difficult to pick up traditional or fiber optic sights.  The glow of tritium will significantly increase your chance of shooting accurately.

What is Tritium?

Tritium is actually a radioactive isotope that constantly glows green.  The glow is caused by tritiums slow and steady decay.  Tritium will slowly dim over time, but the sights should last 15-20 years on average.  While tritium does glow on its own some companies pair it with photo-luminescent paint.  The photluminescent paint really makes your front sight pop in the dark.  I really like the peace of mind that comes with installing a pair of tritium sights.  Once they’re installed they offer years of maintenance free service.

Which Glock 36 Sights are Right For You?

The popularity of Glock guarantees you’ll find lots of aftermarket accessories. There are a few that stand out from the competition.  No company beats the quality standards of Trijicon Night sights.  Trijicon changed the game when they first came out with tritium sights.  They provide a bright sight picture and are nearly indestructible.  If you can’t afford Trijicon sights Meprolight offers a much cheaper alternative.
